Laura Dominici is an Austrian object designer based in Vienna whose work explores the everyday realities of our lives: the new world of work and, above all, the pauses and interruptions in between – leisure, monotony, routine and the pleasure to be found in them. She designs utopian objects that highlight these moments, which are often a source of reflection, creativity and ideas – objects that aim to be an impulse for the user’s imagination. But she also explores the privileges that allow some people these pauses, while systemic inequalities deny others this time, limiting their access to decision-making and political engagement.

Her unique pieces often use time-intensive techniques, creating objects that are as much about the process as the final object.

Trained at the University of Applied Arts Vienna under Stefan Diez and Fiona Raby and at Tsinghua University in Beijing, she holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Design (2021) and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (2022). In 2022, Laura was a finalist at the Design Parade Hyères. Her work has recently been exhibited at Villa Noailles, MAKK Museum Cologne, Dutch Design Week, London Design Festival, Collectible New York and Edit Napoli.
